Do you ever get into where you want to keep the simple spring flowers;but want to bring out those summer cottage touches too? Here is a few of the past style I have done for the mid spring farmhouse looks! Well here is a way to do both! Our home has had some changes since the last time you saw it
Last year I found this adorable chicken feeder. Well, my mom was with me and she just looked at me; when I said I am going to buy this. Did I know what I was going to do with it when I got, I sure did not. I knew I would find something eventually though. I saw many pictures on Pinterest of people using them as a plate rack on top of a china hutch; but I wanted something different. Well, last year I filled it with lemons and lambs ear garland for the summer months but; this year I wanted to use something than lemons. That’s when it hit me, how about a plate rack but not your normal one. I chose to take the plates plus my favorite pots, vintage terra cotta pots and placed them inside the feeder.
This then gave me that spark that I needed to figure out what I could do for this in-between time summer cottage. Lately, I have been getting asked quite a bit how do I figure out what I am going to do next. The question is simple, I just start moving things I love to style with around the home.
During this time of the year, I love having fresh plants and faux plants mixed together. I took what use to be my coffee bar and turned it into an entry way area. This happened because I just love styling it with anything cozy. Cozy styling for spring or summer for me is anything with plants, a fashion accessory, plus vintage layering mirrors.
Another question that I get asked, how do you style a mantle? In our master I have a faux mantle, that I just love to layer. This time I wanted to do something other than just plants, like I did for the spring.
I found these two old window panes in our shed out back, and I thought where can I put on them? Well, as most of you know I love my botanical prints. Once I picked the ones out that I liked from the book that I ordered from Amazon.
Using string to hang them over the windows, but I did not like that they did not have that pop that I was looking for. I knew that I was going to need a bold color. I went to the dollar tree and found some black wood picture frames to put the prints in. Once I had them in the frames I nailed them to the window panes and that was it, I loved the depth the black color created. There was only one thing missing and of course, I had to layer those windows with an antique no frame mirror.
Sharing this I hope that giving you my tips on how to style during this mid spring almost summer time will help you create your own cozy almost summer cottage theme.
