How do you layer your decor to add texture? Most farmhouse style lovers prefer the white backdrops. I am always looking to add texture! The white backdrop with a hint of wood tones is my go-to style.
One of my favorite ways to add texture is with a wood piece or a mirror. On our breakfast nook in the dining room, I alternate the heights, tones, and dishes. The walls and the breakfast nook are white with distressing. This is why I layer the area with wood cutting boards and a vintage rolling pin. Combining the wood tones with an antique mirror creates a reflection that will show off the tones against the white.
To make open shelving simple, I add in different types of cake stands, dishes, and pitchers. I add pine cones to create a dark texture. I also mixed in some cream and white dishes to provide a color texture to the area.
Layering is a way to take a simple space and transform it into a vibrant area that stands out when someone comes into your home or for taking pictures.
