Hey there friends, are the winter blues starting to set in? If this happens, it is time to make a cozy winter home with a few of my favorite tips. Each year after we take down all the bells and whistles from Christmas, we are kinda in a funk. The in-between time is what I call this time and it can bring all kinds of feelings but, hopefully not with these tips.

Bring in Joy

My first and foremost tip is to bring in any decor piece that brings you joy. During this time of the year, live house plants coming into our home is one piece that really brings us joy. I love to place these in the kitchen and bedroom. These are the rooms in our home that get less light. They give a sense of light.

Layer the spaces with winter and non winter:

One thing we miss more common than not is that we think that we have to only use Winter decor. Something that has helped me during this time of the year is to use everyday decor or even Spring decor pairing it with Winter decor. The reason I say Spring, I know that sounds different. Although when we start seeing Spring decor being put out at the stores we start seeing pale greens and a few floral patterns in black and white. These are the perfect pieces to pair with Winter decor since they share similar tones. You can use these in the form of pillows, quilts, or even wall decor. The best part is that you can use the finds well into the Spring.

Add the cozy knits:

Are there still spaces that you feel are still too cold? Crazy to think of spaces being cold inside right? These are the ones like the living room, bedroom, or even an entry way. My favorite way to warms them up with this chunky textures. Adding in a chunky knit throw or even a cable knit pillow will create an instant warm cozy feeling. Simple and easy but they really make a huge change to a space that is still missing something.

Fill the home with scents:

Finally, once you have your home almost cozy there is just one more thing that can bring it home. This is as simple as a pea, add those cozy winter scents. They create those cozy smells throughout the home. Not every scent is for everyone so for this tip light a scent that takes you to a place of peace. There is just something about a candle that can change the mood.
