Starting the new decade off and I wanted to give our home a fresh new start to the year. When the new year comes I like to begin the year off with my first task being a refresh and clean out. After the holidays I like to get the house clean and back to the simple style that I love so much! Winter can be so cold and downing but when you make the inside of your home cozy, it will keep the winter blues away.
I started with the entryway because that is the welcoming to our home and I want everyone that comes in to feel warm and right at home! There is all types of entryways in a home and not everyone has a large entryway or a hall entryway but, that is okay. No matter the size of your entryway you can create a warm welcoming to your guests. When styling an entryway I always want to add layers and textures. Wood tones and blankets are my go to for adding in texture.
After the entryway, I bring the wood tones to the dining room to make sure that when our family gathers, that they feel right at home. My favorite part abbots this space is that I can add in more vintage pieces since I have chunky open furniture in here. I like to layer the cabinets and hutch with vintage dishes and winter greens. This will help create that back home feel that we all use to get when we sat around our grandmother’s table for Sunday lunch .
Finally the bedrooms, these are where during the winter months, I love to layer up. I like to add in the chunkiest pillows and cozy throws. I do like to bring in the warm tones by adding in dried oranges, which I have a tutorial on Instagram for. This is a way that I bring a cozy feeling to each bedroom without over powering anyone who is trying to relax here. Although winter is cold, I still like to keep everything clean and crisp for the winter months, just with many layers.
I really hope that this will help you cozy up your home for the winter with layers and textures. Thank you as always for stopping by the blog today and everyday, XOXO
