Do you ever style a style and have this great vision in your mind, then your done absolutely do not like the end result? Well, that was me when I first styled this mantle. I started out with having greenery, a vintage mirror and bottle brush trees but, that was too similar to what I did last year. I wanted to do find a different look that would make this area stand out. I know you probably thinking well just change it up, right? That was the problem I could not find that layering piece that was missing to make this mantle pop. I was on the search and late one night last week I finally found this adorable vintage inspired mercury garland from Wayfair.
When it arrived and I opened the box, it was perfect. That is when the spark came to me! I decided to keep the cedar garland on the mantle with the vintage mirror to add a layer but, I did add the new pieces in to make it cozy. This adorable vintage rocking horse came from a local toy maker that had a shop in the 50’s, it was the perfect wood texture to layer with the mercury ball garland. I added back in the bottle brushes for a different layer of texture as well but, with the other elements it gave everything a totally different look.
When your creating a simple layered mantle just pick items that make you feel cozy! Do not give up sometimes you just need to walk away and come back with a fresh mind. My typical go to is mirrors, some sort of greenery, and a seasonal texture piece. My best tip when trying to keep it simple in cozy is not to style it perfect the rough edges always make the area feel lived in and that creates the best cozy feeling! Thank you as always for stopping by the blog, XOXO
