Hello friends! Happy Wednesday and time for some home renovations! I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather, and the start of summer! Summer is a great time to rewind, relax, and enjoy the great outdoors. With that being said, there is plenty you can do outside your home during the Summer to make it beautiful. For today, I wanted to share five renovations to bring your outside back to life after a long winter!
To start off, I had to clean my porch before doing anything else! During the winter debris, rain, and any harsh weather can put a damper on your outside area. Oh, and not to mention how crazy pollen has been this season! Vacuuming, sweeping, and cleaning your porch is the best step in resetting for the summer. This prepares a clean and welcoming working space for this months to come. This is also important when decorating, because it keeps your porch decor in good shape so it is ready to be used season after season!
You all know I love gardening! It is so therapeutic, and nothing brings your home to life like fresh flowers that will grow all season long! Not only is gardening fun, but it has many benefits as well! Read this article from Thistle Downs Farm to see how gardening is great for pollination, your health, and for overall appeal of your yard! If you are having a hard time coming up with what flowers are best for Summer, check out this article by Good Housekeeping for the top 30 summer flowers to plant!
Changing the colors of your outdoor area is a perfect way to switch up the look of your porch! Repainting your porch is an easy (and fun activity) to tackle during the warm weather. Whether you are freshening up the color you already have, or switching it up to a different tone, this is a great way to prepare your outdoor for summer. Our outside area gets so much wear and tear on it from us spending so much time out there. Freshening up the area always gets me excited for a new season and new experiences!
Oh how I love flower boxes! They are the perfect simple touch, and brighten up any window! Above I have attached a few different flower boxes perfect for any house. Long term flower boxes can be somewhat pricey due to the high quality of the box. If this is not something you want to splurge on, plastic window boxes work just as well for the season and come in all shapes and colors!
Some of the best types of flowers to put in plant boxes are things that like a lot of sun and water. These include Begonias, Hydrangeas, Petunias, Coleus, and Pansies. These are beautiful, and you can water them every other day to keep them happy and healthy.
Everyone loves spending time outside during the summer! Nothing makes you feel more at home than a comfy porch. You can make your porch cozier by adding soft rugs, seating pillows, and throws to outside furniture, and adding colors all around. I also love incorporating candles, and even my Muzen radio when sitting outside! Above I have shared a few different ideas that I have in corporate into my patios. See something you like? I hope these help you knock out those home renovations that you were looking to get done in the warmer weather!
