This year for Valentine’s Day I wanted to try something fun and something new. I have never in my life created a charcuterie board but hey, there is a first time for everything. This whole idea started when Safe + Fair sent me their new granola and I wanted to share it in a cute way. That is when a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie board came to mind since I have seen them lately on Pinterest, why not give it a try. The question came to mind, what am I going to use to make this board? By seeing how my friends have done these boards in the past, I know that they can get very expensive. I wanted to create mine with some items that I already had around the house and just a few new items from the store.
When I think of Valentine’s Day, I instantly think chocolate, raspberries, and strawberries. I knew that I wanted to use those to create this board but, what else was I going to add in that go with the granola and fruit? Well, I decided that I wanted to do a Valentine’s Day breakfast board. The items that I chose to use was chocolate Reese Hearts, Hershey Kisses, raspberries, strawberries, Belgium waffles, granola, yogurt, and blueberries. Once I had all the pieces now came the time to figure out how I was going to style it.
Styling a charcuterie board can be fun, so I found out, even though it looks like it can be complicated. The best tip that I can give is the, do not try to make it perfect. Although I was styling food, I still wanted to bring in the vintage pieces. Last year I found these vintage heart cookie cutters that were just enough vintage to add it into the board. I started the board by putting the little bowls on the cutting board and then I put the vintage heart cookie cutters in. I decided to put the granola in one of the hearts to create a granola heart. I then filled the center bowl with yogurt topped with granola and the other bowls with fruit.
Next I placed the waffles down to fill some space. Once those were in place I took the next bigger item which was the Reese hearts, which I layered to add height to the board. I think placed the Hersey kisses in two spots on the board and then filled the rest of the space with the rest of the fruit. For the final touches I wanted to add in something fun so I took honey wands to layer with board.
I have to say that I actually had a great time creating this charcuterie and I see more coming in the future. This is something new to the blog and I really hope that you all enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by the blog today and everyday, XOXO
